BMA14’s networking gala on Wednesday evening, May 28, at the Art Institute of Chicago will be conference attendees’ #1 networking opportunity while in Chicago.
Just six blocks north on Michigan Avenue—walkable or reachable by buses leaving the Hilton every 15 minutes starting at 6 pm—the Art Institute is one of Chicago’s grandest institutions and a perfect gathering place for a creative profession like ours.
Our event will be in the towering Griffin Court inside the Institute’s new Modern Wing, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano. Weather permitting, we also will have access to the adjacent, tree-lined Pritzker Garden.
“As much fun as we’ve had on the Odyssey cruise ship for two of the past three global BMA conferences,” said Gary Slack, BMA14 organizer, “we will all be on solid ground and on one level in the Modern Wing, surrounded hy fabulous architecture and some of the world’s greatest art and catty corner to Chicago’s Millennium Park and some of the city’s best restaurants.”
Conference attendees also will be able to take guided tours of one of the Modern Wing’s most popular galleries, the European Modern Art Gallery, from 7:00-8:00 pm.
“For attendees from other states or countries,” Slack added, “plan to enter the Modern Wing via the main front door on East Monroe Street but consider leaving via the second-level Nicholas Skybridge, an exterior pedestrian bridge that crosses over Monroe into Chicago’s equally world-famous Millennium Park.”
